You need to have a unit created before you can add a tenant. Renting Well requires that tenants be associated with a unit. When you’re setting up your property portfolio, our handy wizard will walk you through the initial steps of setting up your properties. If your property is a multi-unit property a unit exists inside of it (if it’s a single-unit property, then it’s effectively a unit itself). A tenant exists inside of a unit. Assuming you’ve completed the creation or your properties and units, this is how you add a tenant:
- Click on Properties in the main menu.
- Choose the property you want to add a tenant to. If it’s a multi-unit property, you need to have added a unit to the property. If it’s single-unit property you can skip the next step.
- Click on Tenancy in the property menu.
- On the right of the screen you’ll see a list of tenants in the unit. If there are no tenants, click the Add a tenant link and fill in the tenant’s information.
Sweet. You’ve got a tenant.
